Production Contract

I agree to the following terms in this agreement and promise to abide by the conditions and expectations set forth by my director, choreographers, music director, technical director, and fellow cast and crewmembers. I will dedicate myself as a true team member to this production process in order to present a show that we as a cast, crew, and production team will be proud of.
  1.  All actors, technical stage crewmembers and musicians should have fun working on this production as collaborative artists. We expect a positive attitude, open communication, and ownership from beginning to end.  We understand that maintaining a positive and respectful attitude is vital to the success of this production.  Whether onstage or offstage, all roles in this production are equally important.
  2. All actors, technical stage crewmembers and musicians must be in good academic standing to participate in and remain in this production. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians are expected to be in school during the day in order to participate in rehearsals and performances after-school.
  3. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians must be on time to all scheduled rehearsals and technical crew duties. If repeated lateness becomes an issue, you may be cut from the production.
  4. All actors, technical stage crewmembers and musicians must be present at all scheduled rehearsals. Rehearsals will generally be Monday through Friday afterschool.  Some weekend or evening rehearsals may be requested in advance. It is also VITALLY important to turn in all notes to the director and notify them directly in advance (one week) if you cannot attend a rehearsal.  Communication is the key to good relationships during a production.
  5. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians will keep the rehearsal spaces, stage, dressing rooms and costume room clean throughout the rehearsal and performance process.  All food should be disposed of outside the theater.  Please keep open containers to a minimum.
  6. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians are responsible for their props and costumes. If props or costumes are damaged or lost while in your possession, you are responsible for the replacement cost.
  7. All actors, technical stage crewmembers and musicians will use the rehearsal process productively. Actors who are waiting to work on stage should be memorizing lines, reviewing blocking, dances, music, or reading materials related to the production. Remember: you are a student first, so you must stay current with your class assignments. We strongly encourage you to do homework at rehearsal if there is time.
  8. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians must stay in the rehearsal area during a rehearsal unless given permission to leave. Your presence may be called upon at any time while you are at rehearsal.
  9. All actors and technical stage crewmembers may be asked to help in completion of the set if needed. This may include painting, set construction, lighting, costumes, props, or other related areas as designated by the technical director or directors.  This also includes stage strike where the set is removed, and props/costumes are put away.
  10. All actors and technical stage crewmembers need to communicate with parents about expectations, rehearsals, costs, and production dates of the show.
  11. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians should understand that the ultimate goal of this process is to create a professional caliber production. Therefore, we understand the importance of being prepared for each rehearsal as well as staying focused and on task during the entire rehearsal process. Each member agrees to meet all deadlines as specified by the calendar. Failure to meet these deadlines demonstrates a lack of commitment and respect to the rest of the company and may result in my being replaced or not cast in next production.
  12. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians should understand that there are other people in this company who are relying on them. We understand that making a poor choice not only affects me, but the entire company. Poor choices during the rehearsal process could result in my removal from the current and future productions.  **THESPIANS – removal from Officer positions and/or denial of Honor Status can/will occur**
  13. All actors, technical stage crewmembers, and musicians upon cast are expected to fulfill their role as given. Failure to complete this role will result in not being cast for the future productions. **THESPIANS – removal from Officer positions and/or denial of Honor Status can/will occur**

Audition Expectations

  • Turn in audition form filled out completely……with parent signature
  • Choose 1 of the given monologues to preform (does not have to be memorized but close)
  • Choose 1 of the songs to sing acapella (does not have to be memorized but close)
  • Use the monologue and song from the same character you are auditioning for.
Monologue/Song Advice
Your directors are looking for expression, creativity, preparedness, and a commanding speaking voice from the stage! Have fun with your monologue and audition song.  Don’t be afraid to try something different! The best way to prepare is to actually practice this out loud in a full voice! Pair up with a partner and present your monologues to each other! Practice out loud in front of your mom or dad! Video record yourself on your phone and watch for ways to improve! All the monologues involve one character talking to another. It is appropriate to pause for their missing comments and let us see your reaction to them.
Remember, we are looking for character acting while you sing.  So your audition may not be “pretty” but your character should come through the song.

Synopisis

9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s. this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic.
Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?
